Sweet Apple #1: The Song "My Favourite Things"

Yes, I said it. The song "My Favorite Things" is my first Sweet Apple.

Yesterday, I caught a serious case of the Monday's. The job was not making me happy as I felt the time I spend there is not making a difference elsewhere. Constant reminder of the economic climate didn't make it help either, and I have a weird bump on my arm. Maybe the bump is caused from all of this stress, but I must say "My Favourite Things" from "The Sound of Music" really put things into perspective.

There are a lot of things in this world that we can be rightfully pessimistic about. A lot of those things are out of our control, but the song taught me that if I count my blessings not only would I see the silver lining, but I will feel better about my current situation and look towards the future.

Enjoy!

  2. My most favorite song e-v-e-r! Since elementary school. But now you have guessed my real age. Too funny! But yes! Raindrops on roses I love, although rose perfume irks me to the highest, and kittens I like, whiskers? Not so much. Bright copper kettles? Umm,lets just say silver, or white ceramic. But a copper kettle would do fine for the summer cottage. Warm woolen mittens? Parachute gloves seem to do the trick these days, but I will take a pair of warm woolen socks any day, can we say "toasty?" Maybe not. Think that's one of the words we are removing from the "Queen's English" this year along with, viral, I'm just say'in, epic, fail, and a few more are over played words.

Brown paper packages... tied up with string? Be careful about accepting those brown paper packages and flowers that appear at your door unannounced! And unless you can still find, (chicken in the bag,)at our favorite Bahamian Fast Food Stop, this would surely be a sign of caution. Cream colored ponies? Like so many little girls, I wanted one when I was younger, not so much now that I am older and wiser. Can we say, "Yacht, Mercedes, Private Jet!" Crisp Apple Strudel? With vanilla ice cream, yum. Door bells, sleigh bells? As for the door bells, call me when you reach the door. Sleigh bells? Just may have to pass, unless we are caroling and a wassailing too!

Wild geese flying... with the moon on their wings? Not, a favorite thing. White dresses? Silk, lace and be-jeweled, thank you. You may keep the sashes.

Watching the snow flakes from my bay window. White winters melting into spring is the best part of winter besides making snow angels, throwing snow balls, and perhaps making an un-scary snow man. Keep the biting dog and bee stings, I am allergic! Other wise, if, and when I'm feeling sad, I remember a few of my favorite things, remember to meditate and pray, and then I don't feel so bad!
